Navis Centre is the abbreviation of its full name “Collaboration Centre for Research and Development on Satellite Navigation Technology in South East Asia”. Navis has been designed and set up by the SEAGAL project, an action co-funded by the Seventh Research Framework Project of the European Commission, Call GALILEO-2007-4.3-01, Grant Agreement No. 228061. Navis is located in the Hanoi University of Science and Technology. The Centre has four supporting institutions including: Politecnico di Torino (Polito – Italy), Istituto Superiore Mario Boella (ISMB – Italy), Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC – Spain) and Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST – Vietnam).

Mission:

The mission of Navis is to act as linking entity between Europe and South East Asia in the field of Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS). Navis aims to ease cross-links between EU and South-East Asia actors to promote European Global Navigation Satellite System technology, and reinforce international collaboration among players.

Functionalities:

In order to achieve its mission the functions of Navis are to:

  • Promote collaboration between the two regions in terms of joint activities in research, training, technology transfer and education
  • Contribute to the spreading of knowledge about the European initiatives in the field of GNSS in South East Asia through awareness and dissemination activities at different levels from public bodies and companies to the general public
  • Foster the cooperation between European and South East Asian institutions
  • Provide support to public bodies and policy makers of the Region in the evaluation of GNSS related technical issues relevant for regulations and definitions of standards.
