On February 9th, 2012, Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) organized an official ceremony to appoint co-directors of NAVIS Centre in the presences of his Excellency Mr. Lorenzo Angeloni, the ambassador of Italy in Vietnam; and the President of HUST, Prof. NGUYEN Trong Giang and other Vice-Presidents as well as the representatives of departments and schools of HUST.

At the ceremony, Prof. Nguyen Trong Hoan, Director of Department of Personnel and Organization, announced the decision of the President of HUST to appoint Prof. Gustavo Belforte and Dr. Ta Hai Tung as the new co-directors of NAVIS.

During the congratulation speech, Prof. Nguyen Trong Giang expressed the deep appreciation to the international partners of the NAVIS Centre, especially Politecnico di Torino and in particular Prof. Gustavo Belforte, in their efforts to support the Centre. Prof. Giang also stressed that HUST is the first and the only university in Vietnam having the model of international collaboration research centers, which has shown its excellent achievements through the examples of MICA Institute and ICCMS Center. And now he strongly believes that NAVIS, the third center of this model, will be the next successful story.

On behalf of the new co-directors, Prof. Gustavo Belforte expressed his sincere thank to HUST, Polito and the other international partners of the Centre for having belief in him. And together with other colleagues in the Centre, he will try his best to develop NAVIS to become an international recognizable centre cum a hub in South East Asia in the satellite navigation field.

On his speech, Mr. Lorenzo threw his support behind the cooperation between HUST and Polito in NAVIS Centre, saying that the success of NAVIS will beneficially contribute to the fruitful relation between Vietnam and Italy.
