Technical tour of FIG Working Week 2019 in NAVIS Centre

A technical tour was organized on 25th April 2019, in the context of FIG Working Week 2019, to visit the Hanoi University of Science and Technology and the NAVIS that is located at the university.

Dr. Bui Thi Ngoc Thuy, Deputy of International Cooperation Department, Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), introduced academic programs and research activities of HUST with international partners. Some RTD activities conducted at the NAVIS were then illustrated. Dr. Adria Rovira Garcia from Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya in Barcelona (Spain) and NAVIS Centre presented the H2020 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action (MSCA) entitled “High accuracy navigation under scintillation conditions (NAVSCIN)” whose scope is to develop an improved strategy to mitigate scintillation, a particular type of space weather perturbation. Finally a Software Defined Radio GNSS Simulator, developed at the NAVIS Centre and particularly suited for testing Black-Boxes equipping public transportation cars in Vietnam was presented.

Participants to the technical tour had then the chance to visit the NAVIS Centre and in particular the Galileo Demo Centre that is hosting different GNSS related equipment and applications developed by European companies. During the visit personnel of the NAVIS Centre provided further information on the equipment on show and on the RTD activities conducted in the Centre.
