GINESTRA Participants

On 24th and 25th January the NAVIS Centre has organized and hosted the workshop of the GINESTRA Project, an action funded by the European Space Agency ESA to conduct a competence survey to assess the current capabilities on ionospheric monitoring in the Asia-Pacific Region and in India.

About 45 participants from five different countries (China, Italy, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam) attended the conference. There were 12 presentations and one round table in which several attendees expressed their view on ionosphere monitoring studies in the Region.

Dr. Luca Spogli - National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (Italia)

In the morning of January 25th the participants visited the Ionosphere Monitoring Station in Phu Thuy managed by the Institute of Geophysics, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology. Its Deputy Director, Prof. Le Huy Minh, and Ms. Pham Thi Thu Hong who have contributed to the workshop with interesting presentations have also led the visit to the Monitoring Station with great competence. The NAVIS Centre is looking forward to continue the fruitful collaboration that was started with them within this workshop.
